Guineverre Guest Farm Deck
South Africa
When founder Daniel Hawkey travelled to South Africa, he flew in specifically to build a new garden deck at Guinevere Guest Farm during a short eleven day window between
guest changeovers. Surrounded by open landscapes and gentle hills in the Cape Winelands region, Guinevere Guest Farm is known for its quiet atmosphere, generous outdoor space and warm welcome.

The concept for the deck was to create a platform that could be used for weddings; as a stage for musicians & the ceremonies. For yoga retreats, and as a place to relax in the sun; incorporating a wood fired hot tub for the cool mountain evenings; fed by water from the local mountain spring and fueled with timber harvested in the
sustainable management of the estate.

Working to a precise schedule meant that every stage of the build required planning and focus. Materials were organised in advance and once on site Daniel oversaw the entire process from layout to finishing. Each board was cut and fitted with care, allowing the
structure to take shape smoothly day by day. In just eleven days, the deck was complete.

Solar pagoda
Peaslake Surry Hills
When Daniel set out to develop the solar Pogoda, the aim was to create an outdoor dining space without the loss of natural light. Using bifacial translucent panels, he designed a 4kW solar roof that would bring soft, natural light into the covered space while simultaneously generating clean, renewable energy.

Achieving this balance required careful planning from the outset. A custom aluminium gutter system was innovated to carry the run off from the clamping/expansion joints
between the panels, wind loading calculations were critical in the design of the reinforced supporting wall & timber frame. Each design challenge was met, allowing the structure to come together steadily day by day.

The result is a dining area that feels bright, its roof quietly harvesting power as guests enjoy the space below. Overhead; the integrated LED lighting can be set to any colour, allowing you to set the mood and dine in the evening. The finished Pogoda stands as a functional addition that blends naturally into the garden while making sustainable energy a seamless part of everyday living.
Garden Room
Peaslake Surry Hills
This Garden room is fully insulated and built to the same specifications as any Timber Frame home. From start to finish, the structure came out of the ground, over a period of two weeks. To be used as an office; it required power and data to be
connected to the main residence and also has 2KW of Solar pannels on its roof producing clean energy for the household.

Here at Havenwood we can design and build garden/pool rooms of any size,
including custom features such as; solar panels, sound traps for home music studios, saunas, indoor/outdoor garden kitchens, patios, decks, stone BBQ”S and wood pizza ovens.
Restoration of a Scandinavian Log Cabin
Godalming, Surrey
Water damage to this two bedroom guest house had left its corners crumbling with wet-rot. By contacting the company in Holland who had originally made the cabin; Daniel was able to order matching timber of the same profile, with the interlocking
corners already cut. This only left the challenge of sliding in the new assembled corners in one piece!

By the addition of drip trays, Rain water gutters, a small soak away and water butt for the garden, he guaranteed that the problem was permanently resolved; ensuring the building would now endure the wet British climate!
Banyan Cove Villas
